If you want to buy a home, you must be able to qualify for a mortgage.
This does not require perfect credit, but if your credit is poor, you probably will not qualify (unless you can get a good co-signer). If you have no credit, it is not a problem... as long as you have a good rent history for at least one year. Also, your income must be high enough for the lender to believe that you will be able to keep up the monthly payments.

Also, you do need to have a deposit. The amount of the deposit depends on your credit and financial situation. If you have excellent credit, you can buy a house with as little as $2,000 cash out of your pocket. The usual deposit requirments are between 5% and 10%. The better your credit, the less cash you need.
